  1. It will be available just for testing purposes, as it's not finished yet. Some components are too unstable for the moment to ship Lubuntu only with it.

  2. "We have some interesting things happening, so read on for highlights and information"

Is it just me, or are there no highlights and information listed? Just the usual warning about an alpha version being for developers?

Did a paragraph go missing? :)

  3. Yes, I should say "stay tuned on future highlights" instead. As you said, this a developers oriented release. But in the background things are changing quickly.

  5. Forgive me for being lazy to use launchpad and not registering to mailing list (i feel no need for one bug report to do so).
Some mimetypes are missing in latest Box icon set.
It is an easy fix tho:

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/16
    ln -sf application-x-generic.svg application-x-desktop.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/22
    cp application-x-desktop.svg application-x-generic.svg
    # weird and monkey repetitive task however it is correct
    ln -sf application-x-generic.svg application-x-desktop.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/24
    cp application-x-desktop.svg application-x-generic.svg
    # weird and monkey repetitive task however it is correct
    ln -sf application-x-generic.svg application-x-desktop.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/48
    cp application-x-desktop.svg application-x-generic.svg
    # weird and monkey repetitive task however it is correct
    ln -sf application-x-generic.svg application-x-desktop.svg

Also, since you are linking empty files for some mimetypes (it is a good practice actually and you used it for `application-x-gnome-theme-package` for example), use text file for ~bak files that are read in PCManfm:

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/16
    ln -sf text-x-generic.svg text-x-bak.svg
    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/22
    ln -sf text-x-generic.svg text-x-bak.svg
    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/24
    ln -sf text-x-generic.svg text-x-bak.svg
    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/48
    ln -sf text-x-generic.svg text-x-bak.svg

application-x-trash is also used however maybe there could be some mymetype designed? Just my 2c

Please review all commands if you plan to add them to default build set. Maybe i did some tiny mistake somewhere. It was not intentional.
    Thank you for your time

  6. Wow, that was awesome! A part the 48 size, that needed name exchange, the other commands worked nice. Please, tell me who you are to thank you properly.

Anyway, thanks so much for your 2c (or more).

  7. Oh, but there are more fixes to commit kind developer!

I'm using Geany with Box icons for months and i never really sat down to fix issue with icons for code ident. I would pretty much like to get that fix into mainline. Here it is:

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/actions/16
    ln -sf gtk-indent.svg format-indent-more.svg
    ln -sf gtk-unindent.svg format-indent-less.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/actions/22
    ln -sf gtk-indent.svg format-indent-more.svg
    ln -sf gtk-unindent.svg format-indent-less.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/actions/24
    ln -sf gtk-indent.svg format-indent-more.svg
    ln -sf gtk-unindent.svg format-indent-less.svg

I dont think that there are RTL versions for those definitions since i have not found them in gtk docs. Maybe i missed something tho :-\

Besides this, i'm blocked for the day as for ideas on what else needs patching. There are inconsistencies in number of icons and links so that much be checked and reviewed because i believe that even tho all mimetypes originals (for example) are present in all sizes, there are not equal number of symlinks. It is not so hard for me to do this in spare time and i will send back feedback if i find anything else.

p.s. I did this for years on offline computers for all kinds of icon sets so i'm pretty familiar with standards for gtk env.

  8. Here is an idea before i go to sleep: Use `gtk-floppy` mimetype for `text-x-bak`. It is perfect for the task.

    Commands:
    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/16
    ln -sf gtk-floppy.svg text-x-bak.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/22
    ln -sf gtk-floppy.svg text-x-bak.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/24
    ln -sf gtk-floppy.svg text-x-bak.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/48
    ln -sf gtk-floppy.svg text-x-bak.svg

Also, i noticed that you defined `rpm` icon however you have not used it anywhere (it is wrongly linked to, i believe, `package-x-generic`?) so here is a command for that too:

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/16
    ln -sf rpm.svg application-x-rpm.svg
    ln -sf rpm.svg gnome-mime-application-x-rpm.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/22
    ln -sf rpm.svg application-x-rpm.svg
    ln -sf rpm.svg gnome-mime-application-x-rpm.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/24
    ln -sf rpm.svg application-x-rpm.svg
    ln -sf rpm.svg gnome-mime-application-x-rpm.svg

    cd /usr/share/icons/Lubuntu/mimes/48
    ln -sf rpm.svg application-x-rpm.svg
    ln -sf rpm.svg gnome-mime-application-x-rpm.svg
